UGS 6000-001 Teaching in Higher Education (D. H. Ziegenfuss) W 6:00 PM-9:00 PM

Teaching in Higher Education (3) Prerequisite: Graduate student or faculty standing. Discussion and practice of fundamental teaching methods. This class prepares individuals with the foundational pedagogical knowledge and skills to fulfill their teaching mission in an institution of higher education.

UGS 6510-090 Cyber Pedagogy (D. H. Ziegenfuss) Online

Cyber Pedagogy (3) Prerequisite: Graduate student or Faculty standing. Converting a successful in-person classroom course into an online environment involves much more than uploading course material to the institution's educational technology platform. Online teaching requires a different way of thinking about educational objectives; relationships with and between students; content organization and presentation; and, the interface between teacher, student and technology. This course introduces instructional technology paradigms by exploring principles of online learning; offering examples of instructional technology best practices; and, providing participants the opportunity to experiment with designing their own online strategies, techniques and approaches.

UGS 6520-090 Advanced Cyber Pedagogy (D. H. Ziegenfuss) Online

Advanced Cyber Pedagogy (2) Prerequisite: Graduate student or Faculty standing. Completion of UGS 6510/651 or 1 semester online teaching experience. UGS 6520 provides an opportunity to develop advanced online teaching and course design skills. This course introduces enhanced online teaching/learning tools, resources, concepts, and challenges. Participants must have completed UGS6510 or have spent at least one semester teaching online. Participants will revise and upgrade a preexisting online course, investigate relevant online learning topics and issues, and develop strategies for assessing online courses and student learning.

UGS 6590-001 Directed Readings in Higher Education (D. H. Ziegenfuss) Hybrid Online*  

Directed Readings in Higher Education (1 to 3) Prerequisite: Graduate student or Faculty standing. Directed readings in learning theory and best practices/methods in teaching higher education. Tailored for students' interests and professional development.

* A hybrid online course meets primarily online. However, students may meet in person up to three times per semester.

UGS 6900-001 Teaching Practicum (D. Coleman) TBD 

Teaching Practicum (1 to 3) Prerequisite: Graduate student or faculty standing. Synthesis experience in teaching in higher education. Offers guided teaching experiences in a variety of higher education settings. Aids in the transition from student to faculty.
