Teaching Assistant Scholars

The Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence is proud to present the TA Scholars Program.

Program Description

The TA Scholars Program consists of an interdisciplinary cohort of outstanding graduate students with at least one year of experience teaching undergraduates. Over the course of two semesters, the TA Scholars Program gives teaching assistants and graduate student instructors the opportunity to explore various pedagogical issues. Each TA Scholar also develops an individual project that addresses a specific teaching or learning need of his or her department.

Successful completion provides a monetary stipend (up to $500) while preparing TA Scholars to be better teachers and leaders in their departments. CTLE will track the TA Scholars' success for at least three years after TA Scholars have received their certificate by sending out a questionnaire on current positions held and use of skills and knowledge obtained in the TA Scholars program.

Successful completion also meets one requirement for the Higher Education Teaching Specialist designation (HETS). For more information click here.
